If you're 5'9" or taller, you already know the problem: most leggings stop at a 28" inseam. They ride up, bunch at the calf, or turn into unintentional capris. The fix isn't a "tall" label — it's knowing your actual inseam number and buying that length. Here's how.
What is an inseam?
Your inseam is the distance from the crotch seam to the bottom hem of the leg. It's the single most reliable length measurement in pants — far more useful than S/M/L or a generic "tall" tag, because two brands' "tall" can differ by three inches.
How to measure yours
- From pants that fit: lay your best-fitting full-length pants flat and measure along the inner seam from crotch to hem.
- From your body: stand against a wall without shoes and measure from the top of your inner thigh straight down to the floor, then subtract about 1" for ankle-length leggings — or keep the full number if you want the hem to reach your shoe.
Height-to-inseam quick chart (full-length leggings)
| Your height | Recommended inseam |
|---|---|
| 5'4" – 5'7" | 27" – 29" |
| 5'7" – 5'10" | 31" |
| 5'9" – 6'0" | 33" |
| 5'10" – 6'1" | 34" |
| 5'11" – 6'2" | 35" |
| 6'1" and taller | 37" |
These assume an ankle-length fit. Sizes overlap on purpose — rise, torso length and how you like the hem to sit all shift the number by an inch or so.
Adjust for the style
- Bootcut & flare: go longer. The hem should graze the top of your shoe — pick 1"–2" more than your legging inseam. Browse tall bootcut yoga pants.
- Stacked / over-the-heel look: go 2"+ longer than your ankle measurement — our 37" inseam styles are cut for exactly this.
- 7/8 or capri: tall women can simply wear a standard 28" as a 7/8 length — sometimes the "problem" length is a feature.
Why we size by real inseam
BUBBLELIME doesn't do "one tall fits all". Most of our bottoms come in multiple real inseam lengths — 29", 31", 33", 35", up to an extra-long 37" — in the same style and color, so you pick the exact length for your height. Start with tall women's leggings & yoga pants and filter by your number.
